At Heart of the Home Foundation, our mission is to empower families by providing the tools, guidance, and community connections they need to build stability, overcome challenges, and thrive.
We understand the struggles that come from not having a village. That is why Heart of the Home exists — to help ensure families are not facing life’s challenges alone. Emergencies happen, and during those moments, support and community matter most.
Through compassion, collaboration, and local partnerships, we work to create a supportive environment where families can find resources, build meaningful connections, and gain the support they need to move forward with confidence.
At Heart of the Home Foundation, we believe in the power of community and the importance of working together to create lasting change.

Working :)

I was raised by a single Mother until I was eight years old. My mom worked incredibly hard to provide for us, often working multiple jobs just to make ends meet. Watching her dedication, strength, and determination shaped a lot of who I am today. Like many families, we faced challenges along the way, including experiences with addiction in our family and the instability that can sometimes come with hardship. But despite those challenges, I was fortunate in one very important way — I had a village. My aunts, uncles, grandparents, and the close friends and coworkers in my mother’s life surrounded me with support, guidance, and care. Not just for me, for my Mother too. They showed me what community can look like when people come together to help one another.
As an adult, life brought new challenges. My journey to becoming a mother included four years of infertility, multiple miscarriages, and health complications before welcoming my daughter and later my twins. Along the way, I also experienced the loss of loved ones and the reality of navigating life’s hardest moments while raising children.
Those experiences deepened my understanding of how important community support truly is. Many families today are carrying heavy burdens — grief, loss, parenting challenges, isolation, and the feeling that they have to face everything alone.
In communities like ours, where mental health struggles and suicide rates are a serious concern, connection and support can make a life-changing difference.
Heart of the Home was created to help build that village. Its also about something important to me as a parent: showing up for our children. Our kids deserve to feel celebrated, supported, and surrounded by people who care about them. They deserve communities where milestones are shared, achievements are celebrated, and families feel encouraged rather than isolated.
Heart of the Home exists to bring people together, connect families with resources, and create spaces where parents and families can support one another. It is about turning life’s challenges into something meaningful and building the kind of village every family deserves.

We believe strong families are supported by strong communities. We are committed to building a village where people show up for one another and no one feels alone.

Even in difficult seasons, hope matters. Through community and support, families can move forward stronger and more connected.

Children deserve to be celebrated, and parents deserve encouragement. We believe in showing up for milestones, transitions, and everyday moments that strengthen families.

We meet families with empathy and without judgment. Every story matters, and every family deserves dignity and care.

Isolation can make life’s challenges heavier. We create spaces where families can connect, share experiences, and build meaningful relationships.

We believe practical help makes a difference. Whether through meals, childcare support, resource connection, or encouragement, we aim to provide real support when it matters most.

Our vision is to create a compassionate and connected community where families support one another, resources are accessible, and every person has a village they can rely on during life’s most important moments.

Heart of the Home is a growing organization, and we are proud of the impact we have already been able to make with the support of our community.

Heart of the Home is a growing nonprofit focused on building meaningful programs that strengthen families and create a supportive community. The initiatives below represent programs and events we are working toward developing as we continue to grow with the help of our community, volunteers, and partners.

We are developing a monthly or quarterly community baby shower program designed to support expecting and new parents in our community. These gatherings will celebrate growing families while providing essential baby items such as diapers, wipes, clothing, and other newborn necessities.
Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where parents can connect with one another, learn about resources available in the community, and feel supported during one of life’s most important transitions.
Throughout the year, we plan to organize holiday meals and community gatherings that bring families together and ensure everyone has a place at the table. These events are designed to create connection, celebrate community, and provide support during important times of the year.
Heart of the Home is working toward offering drop-in childcare services for parents facing urgent situations. This program would help parents who need short-term childcare while attending job interviews, medical appointments, important meetings, or other critical responsibilities.
Our goal is to reduce stress for families by providing a safe and supportive environment for children during these moments when parents need help the most.
Parenting and family life can be challenging, and no one should have to navigate those challenges alone. We plan to host community gatherings and group discussions where parents and families can connect, share experiences, and talk openly about everyday struggles and life challenges.
These gatherings will create a supportive space where families can build relationships and strengthen their sense of community.
One of our long-term goals is to launch a Postpartum Family Support Program designed to help new families adjust to life with a newborn.
This program would focus on creating the support system that many families need but may not always have — essentially helping become part of their “village.” Volunteers would assist families with light household tasks, newborn support so parents can rest and recover, and encouragement during the early postpartum period.
We also plan to help organize or assist with meal trains for families welcoming a new baby, ensuring they have nourishing meals and one less thing to worry about while adjusting to life with their newborn.
Additionally, Heart of the Home aims to help families connect with local resources and support services when they need them. Whether that means helping parents find childcare options, community programs, parenting resources, or other forms of assistance, we want to help families navigate the support systems available to them.

Heart of the Home Foundation is built on the generosity of community members, volunteers, and local partners who believe that no family should feel alone. Every donation helps us grow programs that provide practical support, meaningful connection, and resources for families in our community.
Your support helps us:
• Host community meals and family-centered events
• Develop programs that support parents and growing families
• Expand postpartum support initiatives for new parents
• Work toward offering emergency drop-in childcare for families in need
• Create spaces where families can connect, share experiences, and support one another
• Help families find and access important community resources
As Heart of the Home continues to grow, donations allow us to expand our reach, serve more families, and continue building a stronger, more connected community.
Our first major community event was a Thanksgiving gathering where we served approximately 100 people and families through a combination of meals served at the event, food boxes for families to take home, and to-go dinner plates distributed to individuals in the community, including those experiencing hardship on the streets.
Every item of food for this event was generously donated by local businesses and community members, demonstrating the incredible generosity and compassion within our community.
We are especially grateful to the businesses that helped make this event possible:
Smash Bros
Pagoda
Alaska Lizzie
Raven’s Landing
La Familia Food Truck
Fairbanks Community Food Bank
Their support helped ensure families and individuals in our community could enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal and feel the strength of community during the holiday season.
This event was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to care for one another, and it continues to inspire the work Heart of the Home is building toward.
Financial donations allow us to grow programs, host community events, and provide support to families in our community. We will also be collecting baby/post partum items and food for events.
Volunteers play an important role in making our events and programs possible. Whether helping at community events or supporting family programs, volunteers help create the welcoming environment Heart of the Home is built on.
Local businesses and community partners can help make a meaningful impact by sponsoring community meals, family gatherings, and future programs that support families.
Businesses and organizations can partner with Heart of the Home to strengthen families and invest in the wellbeing of our community.
Every act of generosity whether through time, partnership, or financial support — helps Heart of the Home continue building the village every family deserves.
We are still currently working on our Nonprofit space. This will be updated as soon as possible.
